Home of Orlando and Disney World, Orange County, Florida was named for its citrus groves. Today, few orange groves remain due to the many freezes in the 1980's. Housing developments have boomed in Orange County creating the largest population growth in the US. As a result of this major urban sprawl, Orange County has experienced significant traffic congestion and the problem is growing. Responsible for some of the traffic problems is the outdated transit infrastructure and lack of mobility from east to west. I-4 is a major artery through Orange County and plans are in the works to build new interstates to connect with and parallel I-4.
