Kenneth City is a small town that was created in 1957, when Sidney Colen and approximately 400 residents protested the rising taxes and regulations of the area. Sidney Colen named the town after his son, Kenneth, in order to push himself to work as hard for Kenneth City as he would for his son. Today, this town has grown to around 5,000 residents, but it still holds the high standards that Sidney Colen set forth for Kenneth City. Kenneth City is located in Pinellas County. There are several schools of higher learning in Pinellas County and neighboring Hillsborough County that are close to Kenneth City, like Saint Petersburg College, University of South Florida, Eckerd, University of Tampa, Hillsborough Community College, and Everest College. The major road is 66th Street North. This is the primary business district, though there are many businesses on the corner of 58th Street and 54th Avenue.
