Clearwater Florida is north of St. Pete and west of Tampa in Pinellas County. Clearwater is now home to well over 100,000 residents and is one of the big three cities that make up Greater Tampa Bay. During the second World War, Clearwater and Clearwater Beach became a training ground for troops bound for Europe. Fort Harrison, located on a bluff in what’s now known as Harbor Oaks, served as an outpost during the Seminole Wars. Clearwater anchors what’s known as the three cities of Tampa Bay with St. Petersburg and Tampa holding more residents. Centrally located between St. Pete and Tarpon Springs, Clearwater is famous for its white sand beaches and has been ranked as “best beach” by a number of publications. It is actually the only beach with lifeguards year-round in all of Pinellas County.
