Jensen Beach is located on Florida’s beautiful Treasure Coast. This city is about 8 square miles and skirts the Inter-coastal Waterway on the eastern side. This community was named the “Top Spot for Beach Volleyball” in 2008 by Prime Time Magazine. Jensen Beach was once an agricultural mecca for pineapple farmers. At one point, this area was called the “Pineapple Capital of the World”. In the 1920’s, the pineapple industry collapsed after a particularly cold winter. Jensen Beach may no longer be an agricultural city, but it still holds the Pineapple Festival in November. This festival has rides, foods for sale, and attractions to see. Jensen Beach has become a residential haven, covered with beautiful blooming trees like the Jacaranda, Royal Poinciana, and Tabebuia that bloom from spring to fall. Schools in Jensen Beach are amongst the best the state has to offer. Connie Dahn, the 2006 Florida Teacher of the Year, teaches at Jensen Beach High School. Jensen Beach’s most popular public beach is the Jensen Sea Turtle Beach on Hutchinson Island. This beach is the nesting sport for several endangered species of turtles. The beach has become an attraction for marine biologists who are trying to save the turtles.
