Franklin County, located in Florida's Northwestern Panhandle, is one of Florida's largest counties. It's 545 square miles is home to 11,000 Franklin County residents. Eighty-seven percent of those 545 square miles is in national preserves, state forests and protected lands. Almost half of those square miles is water and Franklin County boasts miles of bay and gulf waters. In fact, some of its barrier islands, such as St. Vincent, Little St. George and Dog Island are accessible only by water.
