Keystone Heights was founded in the 1920’s by people who were moving to Florida from the “Keystone State”, Pennsylvania. These early residents created a small town in which it was normal to befriend your neighbor and walk along the town’s streets; a place to feel safe and valued. Today, this same “home town” feel is abundant in Keystone Heights. The 1,300 residents who call this town home have made this community a place in which they are proud to raise their children. This quaint town is located in Clay County, hidden amongst the sand-bottomed lakes of the region. These lakes provide opportunities for outdoor activities, such as boating, fishing, and kayaking. Keystone Beach, on Lake Geneva, provides these sporting activities for the residents, along with places to swim in the lake. Keystone Beach has a 5,200 square foot wooden playground that was built by volunteers in just 5 days. This is this hard-working mentality is prevalent throughout the town of Keystone Heights. Keystone Height is located about a half an hour to the east of Gainesville, home of the University of Florida’s Champion Gators. Keystone Golf and Country Club is located within the town’s limits. The main business/entertainment district is on Lawrence Boulevard, though there are many businesses on State Road 21.
