Flat Fee MLS Listing Q & A
Question: I am selling For Sale by Owner in the Tampa/Hillsborough area and I'm looking at my discount real estate options. When I list flat fee in the MLS, my telephone number will be listed on the MLS and realtor.com, so why would I need the listing broker who answers the phone?
Answer: Florida “For Sale by Owners” who list flat fee MLS should be aware that no matter who lists your home, the seller's contact numbers are never allowed in Realtor.com! Sellers' (FSBO) contact information will be published in the Agent Remarks section of the Florida MLS and Realtors® often call the flat fee MLS Florida listing agent as normal protocol. (Part 2) When I sign up with a Flat Fee MLS listing service, will that be the company that physically inputs my two MLS listings into the Tampa and Miami multiple listing service?

(Part 2- Answer) Not necessarily. The flat fee MLS listing broker is very often not the same company that charged you for listing flat fee in the MLS or on Realtor.com. In essence, you risk the sale of your property when you list flat rate MLS with a company who uses unknown discount listing brokers. Should you require changes, there is no vested interest in your flat fee MLS listing or in the successful sale of your homes that are located in Tampa-Hillsborough or Miami-Dade.
