About Sunset Park
The Don Ce Sar Hotel, the most famous landmark on Pass-A-Grille, also marks the beginning of Pass-A-Grille. The most southern end of Pass-A-Grille has vistas of Shell Island, Tierra Verde and Egmont Key.
Pass-A-Grille maybe the most special beach front community in all Florida. It is primarily townhomes, low-rise condos, bay front Mediterranean homes, Gulf front estates and plenty of Key West architecture. Whether one lives in Pass-A-Grille full-time or just visits, you have the best that Florida has to offer all within blocks of your home because Pass-A-Grille is only 2 miles long. Charming Merry's Pier, Pass-A-Grille boardwalk to fish and relax, downtown Pass-A-Grille restaurants and cute bars like infamous Shadrack's on 8th Street, and of course, the incredible Pass-A-Grille Beach. At 4th Street you have tennis courts, basketball and baseball.
You can keep your boat at the high and dry marina, eat breakfast at the famous Seahorse Restaurant, have lunch at the Hurricane and enjoy their famous grouper sandwich or just stroll the beach for shells or watch the dolphins chase the mullet for an afternoon snack of their own!
Thomas J. Rowe built the The Don CeSar Hotel and opened in 1928 to much fanfare. Rowe named the grand 10-story hotel after the knight in the opera, Maritana. The Don was later purchased by the US government during WW II as a hospital and rehab facility for vets. A hotel investor by the name Bowman bought the Don in the 70's and saved the historic DonCeSar from the wrecking ball. His renovation kept the Don out of disrepair until the Loews Corp bought the hotel and current operate it.
George Henry Lizotte was Pass-A-Grille's first postmaster and hotelier opening the called the Bonhomie.
Shadrack's, located in downtown Pass-A-Grille, is famous and infamous for being a hard-core biker bar, flights with St Pete Beach Police back in the day and bike nights. Shadrack's was established in 1972 as a "higher place of partying."
The Falkenstein brothers of Rick and Bruno own and operate the Hurricane Restaurant. Their grandfather, Bruno Reitano, built the Keystone Motel in 1945. Their mother Mary still answers the phones at the motel.
Frank Hurley, famous Realtor and author of Surf, Sand and Post Card Sunsets, is a local authority and a Pass-A-Grille historian. He refers to Pass-A-Grille's architecture as "Cracker Commercial."
In 1957 the four communities of Pass-a-Grille, Don CeSar Place, Belle Vista Beach and St. Petersburg Beach came together and created the City of St. Petersburg Beach. In 1994 voters agreed to change the name to St. Pete Beach.
Why buy a home through ADDvantage?
Buyers and sellers throughout Florida trust ADDvantage® and it's affiliated agents. We make searching for a property in Florida fast and trouble-free on our popular website GetMoreOffers.com. Our site contains homes for sale by owner and MLS listed properties from many areas of Florida.
Our agents pay attention to every detail about your important purchase. The type of contract that you use to make an offer is important. Our agents will advise you on whether an "As-Is" contract is better way to make an offer versus a contract with repair limits. There is a huge difference. For example, an "As-Is" contract allows a buyer to escape the contract for any reason once inspected. Where a contract calls for repair limits of 1.5% of the sales price to discuss and negotiate inspection related "warranted" repair items. This type of contract is not as easy to escape. The term "warranted" opens the door for possible conversations that may not be in the best interest of a buyer. Your agent can best determine which type of contract best suits your needs.
Our number one priority is your purchase and getting the most for your money. Each agent that works with ADDvantage® has buyer skills that are exceptional, has demonstrated their professionalism through work ethic, real estate contract knowledge and excellent local knowledge. ADDvantage® holds MLS board memberships in most Florida cities.
