The Melbourne Area Association of Realtors is home to over 1,800 members who service Brevard and the surrounding counties and is located at 1450 Sarno Road, Melbourne, FL 32935. Melbourne is the principal city of the Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was also originally a training area for Confederate soldiers during the American Civil War. Melbourne was named in honor of its first postmaster, Cornthwaite John Hector, an Englishman who had spent much of his life in Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne is located approximately 60 southeast of Orlando and midway between Jacksonville and Miami. Melbourne is neighbor to West Melbourne, Satellite Beach, Indian Harbor Beach, and Palm Bay.

Brevard County's nickname is Space Coast, named after the John F Kennedy Space Center that sits directly on Merritt Island. Another hugh tourist attraction in Brevard County is Cape Canaveral. Cape Canaveral is reportedly the oldest name of a place in America, thanks to Ponce De Leon in 1523. Cape Canaveral is home to part of Patrick Air Force Base, the detached Cape Canaveral Air Force Staton which is operated by the United States Air Force. The association was started in 1959.
