About Lutz
Lutz is located between East Pasco and West Hillsborough County. There is a small portion of Lutz that falls into Pasco County which is referred to as Pasco Lutz. Strict zoning laws, restrictive sign ordinances and an unwavering long term land use plan have made Lutz one of Hillsborough County’s least dense communities. Lutz would also be considered a bedroom community for Tampa as it is located 20 minutes to the west on US Highway 41.
The history of Lutz remains at the intersection of Lutz-Lake Fern Road where a replica of the early 1900 train station depot can be found. The city is named after William Paul Lutz, who was a railroad engineer.
Lutz gained some fame when the movie Edward Scissorhands was filmed there with actor Johnny Depp as Edward.
